Byflou

Scandinavian and European design
— chosen slowly, made to last.

A home outlasts a trend

Byflou.com (Scroll — dossier below)

Our promise

An old-fashioned promise. A rather modern one, too.

Byflou is about things that stay in a home. Not about seasons, not about collections, not about the new for the sake of being new.

About furniture that begins somewhere — a chair, a table, a lamp — and remains while life moves in around it. About interiors that gather patina instead of going out of fashion. About things that can be passed on.

We live in a time when everything moves quickly. Furniture is bought on an afternoon and replaced over a weekend. Homes are styled for a post and taken down again. What used to be choices for life have become campaigns.

We don't believe that is the only way to live. We believe there are still people who would rather choose once and choose well. Who would like to know the name of the person who designed the chair. Who would like to leave something behind.

Byflou is for them.

A short history

Smaller.
Sharper.
Slower.

Byflou was founded as a Danish online furniture store in 2009 and grew over the years into an international business with customers across much of Europe, a range curated across Scandinavian and European design, and a name that for many had become synonymous with aesthetically considered interiors.

The business changed hands in 2026. Thomas Faurbye Nielsen — who had worked closely with the technical and operational core of Byflou for years — acquired the rights to the name, the domain, the image archive and the relationships through his company KasaSagi ApS, and relaunched Byflou in May 2026.

What we say *yes* to, when we say Byflou, is the good: the curatorial eye, the aesthetic line, the long relationships with brands and customers. What we say *no* to is everything an online store often becomes when it grows too quickly: busyness disguised as strategy, breadth disguised as choice, volume disguised as success.

We are built smaller, sharper, slower. We are in no hurry.

We think of our customers as people we'd like to be recognised by twenty years from now.

What we believe in

Five things we choose by.

1 · Aesthetics as ethics

Beauty is not decoration. It is a way of taking the everyday seriously. A well-designed object respects both the person who made it and the person who will use it for twenty years. When we choose, we ask ourselves: would it be worth unpacking in a new home? Would it be worth dusting in ten years' time?

2 · That things can be passed on

We would rather not sell anything that has to be replaced in five years. Furniture, lamps and things for the home should be able to be handed down — to a child, to a next home, to another time. It does not mean everything has to be expensive or heavy or old-fashioned. It means it has to be made to last.

3 · Craft

Behind every object stands someone who knows how. A cabinetmaker, a glassblower, a designer, a third-generation family workshop, a factory that has made the same product just as well for forty years. We lift their work; we do not discount it. We name them.

4 · Doing things properly

With customers, with suppliers, with colleagues, and with the materials we work with. It means an invoice due on Monday is paid on Monday. That an email gets a reply the same day, not the next week. That a damaged vase is replaced without long explanations. It is not a competitive advantage. It is simply the way we want to run a business.

5 · Respect

For ourselves, for our customers, for our suppliers, and for the goods. A good piece of Danish design deserves to be presented with the care it was made with. That means good photographs. That means proper descriptions. That means it arrives undamaged, and packaged as if it were a gift.

The customer, for a lifetime

From the first home to the last.

Most online stores sell to a customer. We try to follow a life.

A Byflou customer is not one person in one moment. It is a person who moves out of their childhood home and buys their first proper lamp. Who moves in with someone and chooses a dining table together. Who has children and needs the sofa to hold up — and the first room to have proper furniture too. Who moves into a house, into an apartment, back into a house. Who loses someone. Who begins again. Who grows older and chooses more quietly, but more deliberately. Who one day packs things away and passes them on to someone about to begin a life of their own.

We would like to be there the whole way.

That is what sets Byflou apart from a specialist shop. A room — a living room, a dining room, a child's room — is a scene in a life. Byflou is the whole house, through the whole of life. It is a larger ambition, and it is a larger responsibility. It means we have to be trusted over time, not just over a campaign. The first chair you buy from us at twenty-one should be something you can still stand by at fifty.

We think of the home as the most important place in a life. It is where you become who you are. It is where you take a holiday from the world. It is where you celebrate, mourn, eat, love, sleep, begin again. To take part in furnishing that place — it is not a small task. That is the work

To our suppliers and partners

A place where good design
is taken seriously.

We curate carefully. We don't sell everything, and we don't sell to anyone. We write about products in a language that respects both designer and reader. We photograph them as they deserve to be seen. And we operate across fourteen European markets, so a good Nordic brand can meet an Italian, German, Dutch or French home in the same way it meets a Danish one.

We are small enough to pay attention, and large enough to make a difference. We are built by people who have worked in e-commerce for many years, and who know where the difference between an order and a relationship lies. We treat a new partnership as a beginning, not as a contract. We read your catalogue before we write an email.

For the brands we already work with, that means in concrete terms: stable payments, honest forecasts, a team that answers emails, and a platform where your products are presented with the care they were made with. For new partners, it means the door is open, but that we would rather talk at length and seriously than rush into a partnership we both regret.

If you make something built to last — we would like to talk.

Who is behind it

KasaSagi gathers
what shines with care.

Byflou is run by KasaSagi ApS, a Danish company founded by Thomas Faurbye Nielsen together with a small team. KasaSagi is built as a hub-and-spoke house: Byflou is the hub — the house, the life, the whole — and around it sit specialised brands, each one tending to one room or one category in depth.

The name KasaSagi comes from Japanese and means *magpie* — the bird that, in the folktale, builds the bridge over the Milky Way so that the lovers may meet one night a year. Also the bird that finds beautiful things and carries them home. It is an image that says something about what we are trying to do: gather what is good, what is well-made, what shines with care, and bring it home to our customers.

That is how we see our role. Not as operators. As collectors.

Looking ahead

Not a steep curve.
A line that rises slowly.

We restarted Byflou in 2026, not because we were in a hurry to do something big, but because we believed something worthwhile was worth carrying forward. We are building it at a pace that lets us do things properly.

New brands join when we have had the right conversation with them. New markets open when we have time to do them right. New categories are added when they belong in the whole home.

We don't have a steep curve in our plans. We have a line that rises slowly, and that we hope will still be rising in ten years.

That is the company we want to build. That is the shop we want to be.
