AY Studios sunglasses and travel bags created for the modern adventurer

AY Studios was established in 2019 by Danish entrepreneurs Daniel Uggerhøj and Torben Holt, who shared a common ambition to unite sustainability and style in modern design. The brand's original base in New Zealand and Australia has given it a global outlook, while its Nordic roots are reflected in the simple yet elegant aesthetic that characterises all its products. Having started as a creative experiment, AY Studios is today a well-established brand, represented in 17 countries and over 250 stores. The brand's design philosophy is based on the idea of creating timeless products that do not succumb to fleeting fashion trends, but instead are cherished over generations. Inspired by pioneer James Ayschough, who experimented with coloured lenses, AY Studios sunglasses celebrate bold and innovative design solutions that are both practical and stylish.

AY Studios' products span a number of categories, including plant-based sunglasses and sustainable travel bags. The brand's collection of AY Studios sunglasses is particularly known for their frames, which are made from bio-acetate - a biodegradable material based on plant fibres. This innovative choice of material makes the sunglasses both environmentally friendly and durable. Similarly, AY Studio's travel bags are made from 100% recycled polyamide, emphasising the brand's focus on sustainability and functionality. With products designed to last and accompany consumers on their life journey, AY Studios has managed to create a collection that reflects both responsibility and timeless elegance. Popular products like their plant-based sunglasses and lightweight, spacious travel bags stand out with their minimalist design and practicality.

Sustainability at AY Studios

Sustainability is a cornerstone of AY Studios' philosophy and the company is constantly working to improve its production methods to minimise its environmental impact. The sunglasses' frames are made from bio-acetate, which is 90% degradable after only 115 days, while the hinges contain 60% recycled materials. The AY Studios travel bag collection is made from pre-consumer nylon, which is transformed into durable and hard-wearing bags. To minimise the carbon footprint, the products are transported by train whenever possible and close collaboration with manufacturers ensures constant optimisation of processes. AY Studios' commitment to sustainability is also reflected in their partnership with Climaider, where every product sold results in the planting of a tree. Through such initiatives, AY Studios contributes to UN Sustainable Development Goal 13, Climate Action, and several other global goals, with a mission to give back more to the planet than they use.

What happens to your order from the old Byflou?

On 27 February 2026, Datoselskabet BF af februar ApS (formerly Byflou.com ApS) was declared bankrupt by the Danish Probate Court in Aalborg. We have acquired the name and domain Byflou.com — not the company. This means we do not assume any debts, orders or obligations from the previous Byflou, and that we are neither legally nor financially able to assist with losses incurred there.

For some, the closure of Byflou was more than an inconvenience — it was trust that was broken. We carry that with us. We cannot undo what happened, but we can build something that deserves yours. And we hope, in time, to earn a place in your home again.

If you have an undelivered order, a pending refund, a complaint or warranty claim, a gift card or a discount code from the previous Byflou — the appointed trustee is your point of contact. We are unable to assist with any of these matters.
